Never Again

Sweet biscuits...I love this song.

I know the power of never. It is not a word I use casually or as an empty threat. So, for me, the phrase "never again" not only indicates that I have closed the door, it means I burnt the house down around it.

Oh Brother

Savannah, Kaylee and Ava have a new baby brother. And I am not that baby's mother...which is weird. Nevertheless, welcome to the world Alexander Ryan. May your life be filled with good things and may you grow to be the man your father should have been.

Good Luck, buddy. You're gonna need it :)

Priorities

Sunday afternoon we returned home from church later than normal. The Baptists don't feel that they have had a real revival unless we suffer past our normal lunchtime:) So I made lunch for the girls and tried to decide what project to tackle first. I had started painting my bathroom Saturday afternoon and that needed to be finished. There were at least three giant loads of laundry to be done. None of our beds had been made. The flower beds needed to be watered and weeded. Faced with all these possibilities, I said "Screw it. Let's go to the pool."

This is how my bathroom looked on Sunday night:

This is how my kids looked Sunday night:

This is the kind of mom I want to be. A mom who will choose happy kids over a clean house 97% of the time.

A Cautionary Tale

Actual email from my boss this morning:

Hi Rachel, Page me today before 10am b/c I want you to order pizza for the conference and I need to give you my credit card no.

Stay in school kids. Seriously. Stay. In. School.

Eavesdropping...

Katie and Ava were in the bathroom. They had been in there for quite a while. I convinced them to unlock the door and this is what I found:

Here's the conversation I overheard while looking for my camera...

Katie: How do I look?

Ava: You look beautiful. Just like a clown.

Katie: I know it.
